Calculation method in Portugal

By default we calculate prayer times in Portugal with the Islamic Community of Lisbon method (Fajr 18°, Maghrib 3 min after sunset, Isha 77 min after Maghrib), in line with the timetables of the religious authorities or most mosques in the country. You can choose another method on any city page.

Asr is calculated by the standard rule (Shafi‘i, Maliki and Hanbali schools): it begins when the shadow of an object equals its length plus its noon shadow. The later Hanafi Asr is shown on every city page too.

Portugal spans 3 time zones:

Europe/Lisbon (UTC+0)
Atlantic/Madeira (UTC+0)
Atlantic/Azores (UTC−1)

Our map data includes 38 mosques in Portugal; each city page lists the mosques nearby.
