About the five daily prayers

We calculate prayer times for 161,534 places in 246 countries and territories from the position of the sun, using the calculation method and Asr rule that are standard in each country. City pages also list nearby mosques – 575,854 of them, from OpenStreetMap, Overture Maps, Wikidata and GeoNames.

Fajr
The dawn prayer. Its time begins at true dawn, when light first spreads along the horizon, and ends at sunrise.
Dhuhr
The midday prayer, from just after the sun passes its highest point until the time of Asr.
Asr
The afternoon prayer. It begins when the shadow of an object equals its length plus its noon shadow – or twice its length plus the noon shadow in the Hanafi school.
Maghrib
The sunset prayer, from sunset until the red twilight disappears. In Ramadan it marks iftar, the end of the fast.
Isha
The night prayer, from the end of twilight; it is best prayed before the middle of the night.

Mosques may add a few minutes of precaution or follow another convention, so their timetables can differ slightly. How we calculate prayer times
